Atlanta United FC reportedly are set to add forward/midfielder Marcelino Moreno from Argentina as their new designated player to replace the departed Gonzalo "Pity" Martinez, TYC Sports in Argentina reported.
Atlanta United will pay a transfer fee, according to the report, and Moreno's former team will also receive 10 percent of any future transfers where he is involved.
Moreno, 26, has played the last four seasons for Lanus in Argentina's premier division. He had three goals with six assists last season, according to mlssoccer.com, and has six career goals and 13 assists.
The Five Stripes have a playmaker vacancy after Martinez was transferred to Al-Nassr FC of the Saudi Pro League.
Atlanta United, the 2018 MLS Cup champions, are a disappointing 3-6-2 (11 points) and are currently in 10th place in the Eastern Conference.
